For the sake of the environment

All plants need carbon dioxide (CO₂) for growing. While burning, wood just emits as much CO₂ as it accumulated during its growth. Thereby it does not matter whether the wood is burned or whether it simply decomposes the emission of CO₂ remains the same. Growing trees will reabsorb the released amount of carbon dioxide. This is why heating with wood meets the „natural ecological circuit“and is not contributing to the greenhouse effect. As the remaining ashes contain a great variety of mineral nutrients, they are a perfect fertiliser for your garden.
